Prior Week’s Key Accomplishments:

 

City College:

  1. Harry West Gym: A hazardous material survey was conducted on Jul. 1 and 2.
  1. Outdoor Athletics Expansion and Upgrades: A materials review meeting was held on Jul. 1 to review interior and exterior finishes, including athletic surfaces, site materials, lighting, and shade structure components.
  1. Affordable Student Housing: A signage, branding, and interiors review meeting with campus leadership was held on Jul. 6.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center / Administration & Parking Structure: A Division of the State Architect (DSA) pre-application meeting for phase 1 was held on Jun. 29, followed by a third Schematic Design (SD) workshop on Jun. 30 to discuss the black box and main theater venues.
  1. Athletics Complex: A physical planning meeting covering IT, security, and building materials was held on Jun. 30.
  1. Parking Garage Overhead Door & Gate Replacement (PS-100) Building: Scope clarification Requests for Information (RFIs) were received on Jul. 6.
  1. Design Center Improvements: The Design-Build Entity (DBE) and district design team reviewed DSA’s comments in preparation for resubmission.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Project: The DBE reviewed campus comments on the exterior renderings during the week of Jun. 29.
  1. Early Education Center: The DBE submitted both the plan review fee check and the 50% Construction Documents (CD) for increment 1 on Jun. 29 to DSA.
  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: A design workshop was held with stakeholders on Jun. 30 with a focus on audio/visual elements of the design.
  1. Data Center and Main Distribution Frame (MDF)/Intermediate Distribution Frame (IDF) Room Renovation: A meeting was held on Jul. 6 with district facilities and the design consultant to review existing Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), and fire alarm systems.
  1. Parking Structure (G3 and G4) Garage Overhead Door Replacement: Scope clarification Requests for Information (RFIs) were received on Jul. 6.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. New College of Continuing Education (CCE) Site: A building layout review meeting was held on Jun. 29, followed by a contract review meeting with Vice Chancellor Peterson and the DBE on Jun. 30. Site walks were held at the Business IT Lab at North City and Culinary at West City on Jun. 30, followed by Nursing site walks at City College and Harbor View on Jul. 1. A student focus group programming meeting was held on Jul. 2.
  1. CE Harbor View Parking Garage Overhead Door Replacement: Scope clarification Requests for Information (RFIs) were received on Jul. 6.

Coming Week Look-Ahead:

 

City College:

  1. “A” Building Expansion: A hazardous materials survey and testing is scheduled for Jul. 6–9. A design review meeting with President Shabazz is scheduled on Jul. 9.

 

Mesa College:

  1. Performing Arts Center (PAC) / Administration & Parking Structure: The DBE will continue working on the 100% SD deliverable for the PAC building, due in mid-July. A final floor plan review with the dance group is scheduled for Jul. 8.
  1. Athletics Complex: The DBE is working on the 100% SD deliverable due in mid-July. The preliminary logistics plan is being reviewed by the district.
  1. Design Center Improvements: The DBE and district design team will continue to review DSA’s comments in preparation for resubmission.

 

Miramar College:

  1. Performing Arts Center & English/Gallery Building: The DBE will revise the design to reflect the preferred exterior rendering and will meet again with the campus to present an updated design during the week of Jul. 6.
  1. Early Education Center: The district will review the increment 1 50% CD deliverable during the week of Jul. 6.
  1. Police Academy A-2 Shotcrete Wall Assessment / Police Deck Landing Pedestrian Bridge: The 60% SD set is anticipated by Jul. 10.
  1. Montgomery Field Aviation Instructional Center: The DBE will meet with the district facilities team to conduct a page-turn review of the 100% Design Development (DD) deliverable on Jul. 7.
  1. Hardscape Improvements: Precision Concrete Cutting will begin grinding uneven sidewalks throughout the Miramar campus on Jul. 7.

 

College of Continuing Education:

  1. New College of Continuing Education (CCE) Site: A stakeholder design meeting is scheduled for Jul. 7. Meetings with DSA to discuss the foundation incremental submittal, along with Disability Support Programs and Services (DSPS), Emeritus, Nursing, and Business Information Technology (BIT) programming focus groups, will take place on Jul. 8. A Culinary Arts focus group meeting will take place on Jul. 9.
  1. West City Expansion: A Schematic Design meeting with stakeholders is scheduled on Jul. 8.
