Project Progress Update
Improving safety at the Mesa College Baseball Field by replacing a high net barrier to protect players, spectators, and surrounding areas from potential injury due to stray balls.
Upcoming Milestones:
- BWE Design Documents for Request for Proposal: Week of December 15, 2025
- Issue Request for Proposal (RFP) to South Bay Fencing
- Estimating four (4) week procurement and three (3) week construction duration.
- Construction started January 20, 2026. Expected completion end of February.
- Construction completion now expected by March 6, 2026. Project delayed due to rain.
- Punchwalk occurred week of March 23, 2026.
Project Features
- Remove 251 feet of 8-foot-high green privacy link fencing and reinstall it after new posts are set
- Remove and replace 176 feet of 10-foot-high chain link fencing with new 8-foot-high green privacy link fencing
- Install new 6-inch yellow top cap to match the existing outfield fence.
- Remove all existing posts and install new 4” SCH 40 x 33ft posts with 5ft deep x 18” wide footings.
- Install and weld 427 feet of 1 5/8” SCH 40 top rail at 28 feet high from warning track grade.
- Install 427 feet of #36 knot 2” mesh baseball netting at 18 feet high, with a 2-foot airspace above the chain link, for a total height of 28 feet or scoreboard height.
