Disability Support Programs & Services (DSPS)
The San Diego Community College's Disability Support Programs and Services (DSPS) provide services, counseling and courses to support students with disabilities in the achievement of their academic and vocational goals. This program promotes equal participation in credit and non-credit academic programs. Special courses for students with DSPS are offered at various locations.
DSPS was established to more fully accommodate the academic and support needs of students with disabilities as mandated by Section 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. The DSPS Offices at the colleges offer eligible students access to a variety of specialized support services and assistive equipment in a timely manner. These services are intended to assist students with disabilities to more successfully participate in all college and career programs and activities. Participation in DSPS is voluntary.
There is a DSPS Office at each of our colleges. Our Interpreting Services Office, the College 2 Career Program, and the WorkAbility III program reside at the district office.

College 2 Career (C2C)
Established in 2010, the College 2 Career program at San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) is dedicated to providing support for students with intellectual disabilities. In partnership with California Department of Rehabilitation and the Regional Center, C2C offers supported participation in college, continuing education and DSPS courses to assist students in reaching career goals and achieving integrated competitive employment. Our program currently serves approximately 60 students. The services span over the course of a three year program. Interpreting Services Office (ISO)
At SDCCD, the Interpreting Services Office (ISO) provides communication access accommodations for deaf and hard-of-hearing students with a documented disability. The communication access accommodations provided by the ISO include sign language interpreting and/or speech-to-text services. The Interpreting Services Office, in conjunction with Disability Support Programs and Services (DSPS), provides services in State-supported activities and classes, and related academic requirements that are directly related to the student's educational process.
Typically, the deaf or hard-of-hearing students meet with the campus DSPS counselor to determine the appropriate communication access accommodations and the service requests are then handled by the Interpreting Services Office. Contact the DSPS Office on campus and request an appointment with a counselor to get started.

WorkAbility III
Established in 1989, WorkAbility III at SDCCD is a program dedicated to providing vocational services to students with disabilities. In partnership with the California Department of Rehabilitation, WorkAbility III was established to assist students who are attending classes within specific California Community Colleges.
The SDCCD WorkAbility III program provides guidance to students and helps them acquire the tools necessary to obtain successful employment. The goal of the program is to teach students the skills that will help them develop meaningful careers throughout their lives.
To access WorkAbility III's services in the San Diego area, an individual must be a client of the Department of Rehabilitation and a student attending classes within the SDCCD.

Counseling
The counseling offices at San Diego City, Mesa and Miramar colleges offer a number of services to assist and facilitate academic, career and personal student growth.
Counseling Appointments
One hour counseling appointments are available to help students with educational planning, transfer planning, career planning and to discuss personal issues related to academic goals. Appointments must be scheduled in advance by contacting the Counseling Office on campus. Note that all transcripts from previously attended colleges and universities must be on file and evaluated prior to scheduling an appointment. Appointments are only available during certain times of the year. Contact the Counseling Office on campus for the most up-to-date schedule.

Career Counseling
Counselors offer guidance to those students who are uncertain of their career path. Students are encouraged to explore career possibilities through the guidance of career counselors, use of research materials and career assessment tools.
Mental Health Counseling
College students often experience stressors while trying to balance the demands of their academic and personal lives. Without help, stress and problems can intensify, impacting personal wellness and academic success. Our goal is to help students benefit fully from the college experience by supporting personal, social, and emotional well-being that offers a welcoming environment in which to promote mental wellness including the values of Dignity, Respect, Professionalism, Cultural Competence, and Self-Worth.

San Diego County Behavioral Health Services
Personal Counseling
Students may also receive personal counseling from the Counseling Office. Counselors will provide support to those students with issues arising from managing the stress of school life and personal life. Personal counseling sessions will be kept confidential. Mental Health Services are also available. Contact the Health Services Office on campus for assistance.
Services are offered in one-hour counseling appointments, on a walk-in basis, and online.
Online Counseling
Online workshops, orientation, academic skills assessments and other counseling resources are available through the college counseling websites.
Walk-in Counseling
A 5-15 minute walk-in session is available throughout the academic year to students with brief questions. Students may walk into the Counseling Office on campus and speak with a walk-in counselor on a first-come, first-served basis.
Register to Vote
Voter Registration is now available online
The Secretary of State and the California Community Colleges are working together to increase voter registration among community college students.
If you have not yet registered to vote, go to the Online Voter Registration website to register now.
Easy Voter Guide
The Easy Voter Guide website aims to make nonpartisan information about why vote, how to vote and what's on the ballot accessible to as many Californians as possible. There are many useful resources on the site for new and existing voters, including an Easy Voter Guide for an upcoming election available for download in seven different languages.
